17. Powerlessness is BS and It Keeps Sex Addicts Stuck

As a high-achiever and entrepreneur, I’ve always taken an issue with step 1 of the twelve steps: “We admitted we were powerless.”

I believe this is one of the reasons why so many men struggle with their sobriety.

Listen, you weren’t born with this sex addiction. You created it over time. And, you’re going to have to use your power to uncreate it.

There’s a difference between knowing that you don’t yet have the capability of solving a problem and giving away your power. I’m telling you, as someone in recovery myself, don’t give away your power.

Therapists will help you, your peer support group will help you, intensives and treatment centers will help you. But, it will be your power that is going to break your sex addiction.
